We chose the name for a variety of reasons, but primarily because we were looking for a brand that suggested the kind of companies that we were looking for - companies with strong foundations, that will need a degree of visible shaping or pruning. We also wanted to suggest a commitment to the long-term - to businesses with stability that aren't going to blow in the wind, but every year will add another ring to their girth. Equally as a buyout firm focused at the smaller end of the market, we wanted to differentiate ourselves from firms in the venture or "seed" capital business. Finally, given our commitment to Private Equity, we aren't afraid of rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty. |
